By this time next week those of us who acknowlege the arrival of Spring through the opening of Major League Baseball season will be celebrating the much anticipated "official" conclusion of winter. As a Northsider and consumate Cubs fan, its time again to muster all the courage and fortitude needed to cheer on our lovable losers and brave the elements to do so. Having weathered the downturn in our regional housing market for well over two and one half years, I feel somewhat battle tested to not only continue our work to help get the housing market back on track but also to cheer once again for our Northside Boys of Summer. Both in recent years have proven to be challenging undertakings. Yet I think we all need to learn from Perennial Cubs fans that 'to love a team or an industry is one of the great callings in life'. One that defies negative reactions and requires what I term a "long ball" outlook on business and life.
Any industry can experience an overdue correction, followed by a gradual recovery to prominence and solid growth. And any team, even the Chicago Cubs, can have a bad century. That said, I wish all members a great Spring and Summer selling season - one that has been long overdue. I also wish the Chicago Cubs the World Series Championship that has eluded them now for 100 seasons.
