I am very proud to say that due to growing support and awareness, 2007 marked HomeAid Chicago's most successful year based on the number of projects completed and the number of volunteers. With a mission to build dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives, HomeAid was involved in a record seven different projects throughout the city and suburbs that added more than 130 beds to our communities. In particular, two key projects were completed: MorningStar Mission’s new 72-bed family and women’s shelter – the only facility in Will County that allows in-tact, homeless families to stay together; and the Trinity Services home – our first permanent supportive housing project built by Pasquinelli Homes. Thanks to our builders and trade partners, HomeAid's 2007 rate of in-kind donations increased 115% over 2006.
None of these success stories would be possible without the continued assistance of the many home builder volunteers, trade partners and contributors who have donated their time and resources so selflessly. We are continually amazed and humbled by the generosity of these caring souls. If you are not familiar with HomeAid Chicago, I encourage you to visit their website and view photos of some of their recent projects and learn about how to get involved. Have a great week!
