This week many of our members are getting on planes headed to Orlando for the International Builders Show. As I sit here listening to the details of the most recent snow advisory and hoping my flight leaves on time, I want to wish all of you that are going safe travels-see you in sunny Florida. For those of you not attending I think this is a great time to remind you that HBAGC’s very own Midwest Builders Show® & Conference is officially one month away. National manufacturers and expert speakers will be here to discuss what's next for the home building industry. Please visit www.MidwestBuildersShow.com for full details and registration; many new registration options are now available.
Speaking of learning what’s next for the home building industry-don’t miss our annual Market Forum on February 21st sponsored by Plante & Moran. View more information or register online here.
The Chicago Home & Garden Show, February 29 - March 2, is a great chance to meet some HGTV celebrities, in addition to viewing the large selection of industry exhibitors. Paul James, host of HGTV’s Gardening by the Yard, will be sharing his tips on how to create a functional, beautiful garden. Also on hand, Sue Whitney from the “Junk Market Girls” will be helping attendees define their personal styles using an outline for design.

HomeAid Chicago dedicated its seventh project on January 10, 2008. The Family Shelter Service Residential and Counseling Center is a community-based counseling center which provides a range of supportive programs, including individual, family, and group counseling. It is anticipated that approximately 250 adults and 120 children will be served each year at this new facility. Thank you to our trade partners including Chicago Title Insurance, USG Foundation, Fisher Paykel, ABT Electronics, The Chopping Block, Elkay, Bosch, National Bathing Products, Surface Solutions, and Grant's Appliances.
Is there an issue impeding your development? If so, chances are that it also affects others in the home building industry. Contact the Attainable Housing Alliance at 630-932-2304 and let us help you be part of the solution. Visit us online at www.ahabuilder.com.

Are you working towards a designation (MCSP, GMB, CGR, etc.)? Several NAHB designation courses will be held at the Midwest Builders Show® & Conference, and if you register for the designation courses by February 12, you will receive a discount! Tom Richey will also be presenting at the show! His session “25 Tough Market Selling Secrets” will provide proven gems of closing wisdom and give you the tools to greatly improve your bottom line. Visit here for a full conference line-up.
