Our Regional Green Committee met for the first time last Friday.  Members of the committee include: Jacob Kaufman of Belgravia Group, Jerry Conrad of Cambridge Homes, Jennifer Margenthaler of Kennedy Homes, John Sorenson of U.S. Shelter, Craig Stempowski of Pulte Homes, Scott Sevon of Sevvonco, Inc.,  and Paul Rogner of ParCraft, Ltd.  The committee appointed Scott Sevon and Jerry Conrad Co-Chairs.  We were joined by Bob Jones, Vice President/Secretary of NAHB and head of the “green initiative” at NAHB as well as Emily English from the Energy & Green Building Department of NAHB. Bob shared NAHB’s green home building mission and program direction with the members.  Emily offered insight on the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED program as well as the state of the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines (available at www.nahb.org), a voluntary flexible program.  The guidelines are now used by 20 HBAs in the country.  The NAHB Research Center will be providing support and resources for the program. A special thank you to both of them for flying out to join us.

The next meeting of the Regional Green Committee will be Tuesday, September 25th at a location to be determined.  In the meantime, if you would like to sign up for the NAHB Green Building E-newsletter to receive up to date green building program information from NAHB, please email greenbuilding@nahb.com.
