The 18th annual HBAI Lobby Day

Dear HBAGC Member:

The 18th annual HBAI Lobby Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th, and it is very important that a solid group of builders and associates from HBAGC attend this very important function. This is the year for our members to attend.  We've never seen a tougher list of issues remaining on the legislative calendar at this time.  Over 100 lawmakers have confirmed to attend the HBAI reception so this is an incredible opportunity for one on one face time with your elected representatives in both houses of state government  

The Lobby Day agenda is as follows:

Sangamo Club - 227 East Adams - Springfield

10 a.m. - Registration

10:30 - Legislative Briefing

  • Gross Receipts & Payroll Tax
  • Employee Classification
  • Prohibition of Developers Installing Primary Electrical Infrastructure
  • Elimination of Joint & Several Liability
  • Prompt Payment to Subcontractors
  • Energy Efficiency Code
  • Contractor Licensure
  • Licensure of Painting, Glazing, and Drywalling Contractors
  • Energy Efficiency Code
  • Increase in State Transfer Tax

12:00 - Complimentary Luncheon

1:00 - Completion of Legislative Briefing Regarding the Above Issues

2:00 - Visit with the Legislators at the Capitol

At the Sangamo Club

5:30 to 7:30 - Complimentary Legislative Cocktail Reception (It is very important that our members stay for the reception. Leaving early causes legislators to miss their constituents which means they may not return to our reception next year.)

Please find your local legislator at ilga.gov then bring along several business cards.  Standard procedure for visiting with them at the State House is to send a business card in to them with the legislator's name written on the back of the card. This gives the legislators an opportunity to walk off the floor to visit with our members. 

This day sounds hectic but it turns out to be mostly fun and very informative for our members. The legislators have always appreciated our attendance and know how much the issues mean to us when we pay a visit to Springfield.  This is your chance to be heard.  Please visist www.hbai.org for more information.  We hope to see you there.
