After several back to back years of record staggering growth in production and sales our industry is beginning to enter a phase that those in the financial markets would classify as a "correction". We at HBAGC acknowledge that the past few months have been somewhat more challenging for our members than those of the previous business cycle. Nevertheless our expectation is for a collective soft landing for our industry by year's end, and cumulative results that still will define 2006 as one of the historically best all around years.
I have always believed that the role of a trade association is to provide its members with the resources and information necessary to make the right decisions in business. In keeping with that objective HBAGC has developed a series of programs and services that I feel will assist you in the development of current and future business strategies. These tools include everything from the Greater Chicago Market Report where subscribers can track the statistics of over 200 communities on a weekly basis, to our new "Find a new Home" website feature where consumers can sort through our participating members' available inventory. The next tool on our website will be the Land Bank where our members will be able to list available land on our website for other members to view. The Land Bank just completed testing and will be presented to the membership in the upcoming months.
