Mike Ditka, Rick Horrow Headline at 2004 Midwest Builders Show
(LOMBARD, IL) – The Midwest Builders Show (MBS) today announced football legend Mike Ditka and National Football League (NFL) consultant Rick Horrow are two main headline speakers for its 2004 Midwest Builders Show scheduled for March 25–26, 2004 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, a suburb of Chicago. "Iron Mike" will share a motivating presentation on key characteristics for achieving personal and professional goals; Horrow, a sports business lawyer who worked on the creation of the Miami Heat and Joe Robbie Stadium, will share his experience behind shaping major deals.
The 2004 Midwest Builders Show is in its second year and is geared towards housing industry professionals such as production builders, custom and small volume builders, remodelers, sub-contractors, suppliers, tradesmen, salespeople and others working in the industry. It brings together manufacturers, suppliers and distributors to demonstrate the abilities and resources of home building organizations and affiliated trades in an exchange of products, ideas and information. A regional tradeshow and conference, the Midwest Builders Show is drawing attendees from an eight-state region that includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin but is open to anyone affiliated with the home building industry.
"We’re very pleased that Ditka and Horrow will be speaking at this year’s event," said Peter Schwartz, CEO, Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago (HBAGC), the organization that is the principle owner of the Show. "Besides having excellent credits to their names and being popular personalities, they’re also tremendously motivating speakers. We’re really happy they’ve decided to be a part of our Show."
The Show also features an exciting lineup of exhibitors, parties, prize giveaways and specialized education sessions. Many new exhibitors to the Show -- such as Kohler Generators, DuPont Surfaces, and VELUX America, Inc. – join the ranks of renewing exhibitors such as Delta, Moen, KDA (Kitchen Distributors of America) and Maytag. This year’s Show is expected to draw in excess of 5,500 attendees, the number of those at the first annual event.
Activities get underway with the Jazz ‘n Chicago Kick-Off Party the night before the opening of the tradeshow floor, held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare hotel, right next door to the convention center. Sponsored by the Chicago & Northeast Illinois District Council of Carpenters, it will feature The Jazz Cats and The Big Fun Band. Other special features of the Show are prize giveaways such as the $100-An-Hour Giveaway. Every hour on the hour each attendee has the chance to win $100 on the spot. Winners’ names will be gathered from exhibiting sponsors’ lead retrieval information.
Like last year, an in-depth variety of educational sessions are featured. Many of the sessions will offer accreditation or certification and are scheduled for March 23-24, the two days preceding the opening of the tradeshow floor. More seminars are slated for the tradeshow days.
"While the Midwest Builders Show is serving as a venue for buying and selling residential building products and for professional education – we also want to make sure everyone has a great time while they’re here," said Schwartz. "That’s why we also work hard to make this a festive event. We want everyone to network and learn but we also want everyone to enjoy themselves too."
