Third-annual Remodel Chicagoland™ tour of remodeled homes set for May 17-18

ITINERARY INCLUDES VARIETY OF REMODELED RESIDENCES IN 5 SUBURBAN LOCATIONS

“If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with,” Stephen Stills once famously sang. And homeowners are taking his musical message to heart in the form of residential facelifts.

With the real estate market in flux over the last several months, many homeowners are opting to invest and improve in their existing residences. Which underscores a wider trend: the increasing popularity of home improvement projects.

Tapping into this trend, Remodel Chicagoland™ is back — offering a third annual, all-new tour of professionally renovated homes throughout the suburbs. Slated for Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., this year’s Remodel Chicagoland™ tour will feature seven uniquely refurbished homes in five different suburban locations.

“Every year we get increasingly positive feedback from tour attendees who come away impressed and inspired by the scope and diversity of the upscale remodeling projects we showcase,” said Lisa Pickell, President of the HBAGC Remodelers — a council of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago and the event’s sponsor.

“Homeowners are seeking innovative strategies and creative ideas on how they can transform everyday rooms and ordinary areas into dramatic living spaces,” Pickell added. “Walking through these distinctively different Remodel Chicagoland homes can spark your ambitions and suggest colorful new concepts and inventive approaches that you can apply to your own home. There’s an assortment of renovation projects on display, representing a good cross-section of styles and budgets.”

Stops on the tour include the following homes:

·  Barrington    a home that was transformed by Insignia Kitchen and Bath Design Group, Ltd. of Barrington, as evidenced by the combination of the kitchen and adjacent laundry room into one large space, the addition of a massive stone hood and cooking alcove, two bi-level islands, all-new high-end appliances, an armoire-style refrigerator and much more

·  Highland Park   a contemporary empty nester home built in the early 1980s, for which Design Construction Concepts, Ltd. of Northbrook opened up several walls and created a more open floorplan that features a whole house renovation, including the kitchen and master bathroom.

·  River Forest   a Mediterranean-style home that received an 800-square-foot addition consisting of a well-equipped, sophisticated kitchen, an expanded casual dining area and a finished basement, thanks to the efforts of Oak Design & Construction based in Oak Park.

·  River Forest   a 1938 Better Homes & Gardens two-story colonial that was extensively renovated by Oak Park-headquartered Pollard Construction Company, Inc., which fashioned a new kitchen, breakfast room addition, family room, three-car garage, hot tub gazebo and more.

·  Schaumburg   an energy efficient and environmentally friendly green ranch home that was customized to better accommodate the owners’ child with special needs, courtesy of Roselle-based Remodel One, Inc. and Palatine-headquartered Sevvonco, Inc., which saved the owners more than $80,000 thanks to donated or deeply discounted products, labor, installation and services on the project.

·  South Barrington    a 6,000-square-foot home that was thoroughly modernized with raised ceilings, programmable control system, a new two-story screened-in porch overlooking an Infinity Edge pool and lake, an all-glass three-story central atrium with a koi pond and waterfall, a finished basement with a wine storage area, custom walnut millwork throughout, a stone bridge and paver drive and much more, care of Doomis Custom Builders, Inc.

·  South Barrington   an older home with an outdated master bathroom that was re-imagined by East Dundee-based Great Northern Kitchen & Bath, which designed a large shower with a built-in seat, rounded stairs, body sprayers and a digital “Home Spa” experience system and implemented cherry cabinets, granite countertops and much more.

Full-price admission is $10 online (at www.RemodelChicagoland.com) or $15 when purchased on-site at any of the seven tour locations. Children 12 and younger are free. Each paid ticket includes a Remodel Chicagoland magazine (a $5 value) featuring details of each home on the tour, as well as valuable remodeling tips. Visitors are responsible for providing their own transportation to each stop on the tour. Attendees are also eligible to participate in a drawing for a $400 American Express™ gift card good at virtually any retailer.

Pickell noted that a portion of the proceeds for Remodel Chicagoland™ will be donated to HomeAid Chicago   the HBAGC’s charity of choice that aims to shelter and assist the area’s transitionally homeless population.

The tour is sponsored in part by Marvin Windows and Doors. Other sponsors can be found on the tour Web site at www.RemodelChicagoland.com.
